Catching Up

I have been busy creating all sorts of things from crochet, felt, sewing to needlefelting.  So to fit all these different techniques into my creative time.  About 3 weeks ago, I made myself a crafting rhythm creating time for each of my interests as well as items for my shop.  Now, I can divvy out my time to fit in everything even blogging.  Take a look….

I made this for Orla’s school Valentines, it was just the right size, then I felted it, now it’s a play basket.
Orla’s teachers, Ms. Sally and Ms. Angelina at our preschool (I work there too), asked if I could make some bears for a particular story they were telling. So I found a bear pattern on Ravelry,  then I had to modify the pattern (taking notes)  for the sizes they needed.  These are the bears I made for Orla and the school bears are even bigger.  They are crocheted with Fisherman wool, stuffed with wool,  then felted for a perfect wooly look.
Last fall, I bought this dragon pattern from my friend Judy, and of course you know who picked a pink dragon.  This is made with a bamboo/wool felt for the body and wool felt for the wings.
I learned how to make these tabletop puppets my first year at our preschool.  The body is wool felt, the faces are knit material and the hair is wool roving needle felted to the puppet.  I bought most of my supplies from Weir Craft.  Orla really enjoys bringing stories from school home and I wanted to make some puppets for her to have for play and story telling.  Before I finished the bears each of these puppets may have been Goldilocks or a bear.
Along with the puppet supplies, I bought a needle felting kit, and I started making a rabbit from the book, Wool Pets,  and I followed along with the pictures but then got stuck and stopped.  I went back to the beginning of the book, to start with something simple and made a bumble bee.  Then a lady bug,  flower, snail and then back to the bunny.  I work on these things at night and put them out on our nature table for Orla to discover in the morning.  As it turns out here latest story at school is The Little Brown Bulb, and in this story among the cast of characters, there is a rabbit, bees, a flower, and a lady bug.  Yesterday, during Orla’s class spring festival, the other parents and I watched as Ms. Angelina told, while some of her friends puppeted this story.
So I made this little brown bulb with a green sprout on the top of his head.

Yes, I am much inspired by my daughter and our wonderful school.
I enjoy creating for her as well as others.
HAPPY SPRING!!!
