Recently, I crocheted this square….
as I was working it up, thinking the center would be a perfect start to a Mandala. So last night I worked up my idea. Using a different color for each round, I created this lovely Mandala….
Now let me show you how to do it too, meet the characters ….
an assortment of Nazli Gelin Garden and Garden Metallic, now meet the tools…
Let’s get started.. With color A …..
work 12 sc into a slip ring and join with slst to first st. Fasten off.
Join Color B with a standing dc in any st ….
this is how I set up my standing dc, I wrap the thread around my hook with a yo, insert your hook into any stitch from Round 1, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops, yo, pull through last 2 loops….
then ch 2, (dc, ch 2) into each remaining st….
join with slst to first dc and fasten off.
Joining Color C with a standing dc in any ch-2 sp….
yo and pull through 2 loops, yo, and
pull through last 2 loops…
Working 4 more dc into the same space…
make your pc (popcorn pc– leaving a loop on the last dc, insert your hook into the first dc, pick up your loop, yo and pull both loops through), ch 3…
continue working a pc, ch 3 in each ch-2 sp, join with slst to top of first pc…
Round 3 complete, fasten off Color C….
Now joining Color D with a standing sc …. loop the thread around the hook …
insert the hook into any ch-3 sp, yo, pull through loop…
yo and pull through 2 loops…
working 4 more sc into the same sp, ch 3…
continue working (5 sc, ch 3) into each remaining ch-3 sp….
join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off Color D.
If you wish weave in your ends now and join me for Part 2 tomorrow!
Enjoy!
