Joining the club

Last week Tuesday, I joined the…

broken phone club, the elite group of accidental people.
I had my phone in my jacket pocket and thought I zipped it closed.  As I put on my jacket, I heard that distinct phone falling to the floor sound.
My first thought was well I have to get a new one.  Even though it still works,  I don’t want to cut my finger on shards of glass.  First, I added some shipping tape to protect myself from shards.
Then I checked my phone contract which expires next February.  Back when we bought our discounted ($50 and $1) smart phones with a 2-year contract we added insurance.  For each phone we pay our inexpensive $8 monthly premiums.  So today, I started to make a claim, enter in all my info, and if I pay a $200 deductible, they will send me another iphone.  Do you think I am going to pay that deductible?
My common sense tells me absolutely no way!  Now I am wondering why pay insurance with deductible I can’t afford.  I can live with my broken phone until February.  I just hope there are no dues for the broken phone club.
Enjoy!
